Professional Training Program by Whirlwind Dance Company

The MOVE Program by Whirlwind Dance Company is a professional tuition based training and development program designed for dancers ready to deepen their training, expand their artistic voice, gain performance experience, and immerse themselves in a company environment rooted in creativity, collaboration, growth, and artistic exploration.

Connected to Whirlwind Dance Company’s main company artists and artistic staff, The MOVE Program offers dancers the opportunity to train consistently, engage in choreographic processes, develop professional habits, and explore what it means to move with intention, curiosity, and purpose.

This program is for dancers who are ready to grow beyond the studio — artists who are open-minded, community-driven, and committed to continuing their development as performers, collaborators, and creative voices.

What’s Included

As a trainee in The MOVE Program, dancers receive:

  • Weekly training with Whirlwind Dance Company artistic staff

  • Monday and Wednesday training from 9:30 AM–1:30 PM + potentially 1 optional class with main company on Thursdays from 9:30-11. will be determined on capacity in the room

  • Audition-based understudying opportunities during main company rehearsals

  • Choreographic opportunities for the end-of-year MOVE Training Showcase

  • A dedicated MOVE Program performance/showcase at the end of the season

  • 1–2 potential performance opportunities alongside Whirlwind Dance Company’s main company during the season

  • Unlimited access to monthly evening adult classes through The Well Center for Movement and Dance
    Excludes occasional pop-up classes

  • A personal key fob providing access to the creative space during available free studio hours

  • A professional environment focused on growth, collaboration, creativity, and artistic exploration

  • 1:1 Mentorship from Artistic and Exectuive Staff

  • Updated headshots and dance shots

  • Professional footage and access to camera gear

Program Overview

As a trainee within The MOVE Program, dancers will participate in weekly training and development experiences led by Whirlwind Dance Company’s artistic staff.

Trainees will have opportunities to strengthen their technical foundation, explore their individual artistry, engage with professional rehearsal practices, and build confidence within a supportive and challenging environment.

The program is designed for dancers who are seeking continued growth, mentorship, performance opportunities, and a deeper connection to the professional dance community.
